Description
Remove Radium and Uranium from Your Drinking Water
Radium and uranium are naturally occurring radioactive elements that can enter groundwater supplies through the erosion of bedrock and soil, particularly in areas with high natural deposits. These contaminants are not detectable by taste, smell, or sight, making their presence in drinking water especially concerning. Like many hazardous substances, radium and uranium can pose serious health risks even at low concentrations that do not affect the water’s appearance or flavor.
Radium can dissolve into groundwater as it moves through certain types of rock formations, while uranium often enters water sources through natural leaching or human activities such as mining or industrial waste discharge. Both elements are classified as radioactive and can increase the risk of cancer and kidney damage when consumed over time. The EPA has set maximum contaminant levels (MCLs) for these substances—5 picocuries per liter (pCi/L) for combined radium-226 and radium-228, and 30 micrograms per liter (µg/L) for uranium—to help protect public health.
This filtration system is specifically engineered to target and reduce radium and uranium levels in water, providing a reliable solution for households and communities with naturally high concentrations or potential contamination from industrial sources.
Additional Product Options
- 12 GPM UV Water Sterilizer: Specifically designed to meet the demanding microorganism control concern. These microorganisms can range from bacteria and viruses to algae and protozoa. A major advantage of UV treatment is that it is capable of disinfecting water faster than chlorine without cumbersome retention tanks and harmful chemicals to your drinking water.
- Leak Detector Valve: Used to detect a water leak within a water filter system and shuts down the water supply to prevent flooding.
- Vacuum Breaker: Recommended to be installed inline ahead of water filter systems as a precaution against the rare occurrence of negative pressure (a vacuum) in the water line which can cause damage to the filter tanks and housings.
- Metered Valve: The systems come standard with a timer valve which runs the backwashing schedule on a set number of days. (For example, every 7 days). The metered valve will run the backwashing based on a set number of gallons. (For example, 3,000 gallons).
- Oxidation System: Utilizes ozone for efficient water oxidation, improving water quality.
Important to Know
Pinholes or rust may occur on stainless steel tanks in environments with high humidity, when salt is present or if condensation remains on tank without being routinely wiped down. If your system will be exposed to one of these factors or you are unable to perform the needed maintenance, we recommend a fiberglass tank.
